Westshore mayors approve minutes and financial report; discuss regional transit, homelessness response

The Westshore Council of Governments met April 8 at the Fairview Park Gemini Center. Mayor Bill Schneider called the meeting to order at 9:35 a.m., and members conducted roll call, with mayors from Lakewood, Rocky River, Fairview Park, Westlake, North Olmsted and Bay Village in attendance along with WSCOG Treasurer Renee Mahoney.
Mayor Dennis Clough moved and Mayor Meghan George seconded a motion to approve the council’s March 11 minutes; the motion passed with Mayor Paul Koomar abstaining. Treasurer Renee Mahoney said there was nothing new to report on finances as the council awaits contributions from member cities. Mayor Schneider moved and Mayor George seconded approval of the March financial report; that motion passed unanimously.
During commission reports, Mayor Paul Koomar and others gave updates on regional programs and grants, and members discussed potential regional initiatives including a Westshore adaptation of the First Call homeless-response model. WSCOG staff said a previously advertised finance assistant candidate fell through and the position will be reposted. The council noted May 13’s meeting was canceled and scheduled its next meeting for June 10 at 9:30 a.m.
