Paul (staff) described the plan: tow companies would relocate illegally parked cars to the high school lot; residents would be told where their cars were and pay a $100 fee or the city could treat towing as an event cost. "We anticipate maybe 10 cars would be towed," Paul said.
Council approved the road closures, temporary no‑parking restrictions and contracting with a towing company for the weekend. Members discussed signage, shuttle promotion and staffing for setup and enforcement. Staff said temporary signs would be up by Thursday or Friday before the event.
Practical effect: Towing is intended to keep emergency routes clear for fire and EMS and to reduce blocked driveways during the parade and street dance; staff will finalize logistics and whether towing fees are charged to vehicle owners or absorbed by the event budget.
