The Jasper board reviewed public safety reports, approved several training requests from the police department and accepted two fire-department resignations.
A police department representative summarized June activity: approximately 1,406 calls for service, 54 crashes, 404 written warnings, 68 traffic citations and 50 criminal arrests. Dispatch handled 2,143 calls with 465 designated 9-1-1 calls and reported an average 9-1-1 ring time of about 2.6 seconds. The board approved sending two communications staff (Megan Dodd and Elizabeth Evitz) to the Indiana 9-1-1 Professionals Conference (Sept. 14'17) at a per-person cost of $1,268 to come from the department's training budget, and approved sending Officer Logan Jones to Stops Instructor School (Sept. 1'3) for $625; both requests were described as covered by training budget dollars.
The police representative also requested removal of asset #600212 (a 2018 Dodge Charger) from the city's fixed asset inventory to allow trade-in; the board approved removing the asset.
The fire chief reported two resignations: Josh Dooley (leave converted to resignation effective 06/30/2026) and Cody (resignation effective 07/31/2026). The chief said the departures reduce staffing to about 34 active members and that the department will start hiring to restore staffing. He also described two recent automatic-aid calls: one initially reported as a structure fire but cleared, and a separate working fire that required interior work and a roughly two-hour round trip response. The board moved to accept the resignations; the motion carried by voice vote.
Board members asked that staffing and backfill plans come forward at a future meeting. No roll-call vote tallies were recorded in the minutes for these approvals; actions were taken by voice vote.
