Board reviews playground repairs, turf issues, sidewalk request and schedules future staffing, technology discussion

At the Dec. 11 meeting, Superintendent Debbie Haertling told the board she had sent a letter to the City of Altenburg regarding the sidewalk across from the school and that the district is still waiting for a few bids. Board member Brittany Hecht reported playground safety mats have been ordered and said Karl Kasten plans to do concrete work during the Christmas break.
Haertling reported the school's turf is coming apart and the district is waiting to hear back from Turf USA about repairs. She also presented upcoming APS events and announced board filing dates for candidates: Dec. 9–19 (8 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) and a filing window on Dec. 30 from 4 p.m.–5 p.m.; the district office will be closed Dec. 22–30 for winter break.
Board member Lindsay Palisch asked that discussion of teaching positions and the district's Technology Plan for the 2026–27 school year be placed on the next board meeting agenda. Haertling said she would check whether job postings are still listed on MO Teaching Jobs.
