Altenburg District #48 board approves budget outlook, re-adopts SPED compliance plan

Altenburg District #48's Board of Education approved the district budget outlook and proposed amendments and re-adopted the district Special Education (SPED) Compliance Plan at its Oct. 14, 2025 meeting.
Richard Sachs moved and Cary Roth seconded approval of the budget outlook and amendments; the motion passed unanimously, 7-0. The board then re-adopted the SPED Compliance Plan after a motion from Brittany Hecht, seconded by Cary Roth, which also passed 7-0. Superintendent Debbie Haertling presented a budget comparison for the board's review during the open session.
The board also approved the October bills. Lindsay Palisch moved and Andrew Lichtenegger seconded the motion to approve the bills as presented; the motion passed with a 5-0 vote while Jessica Hecht and Richard Sachs recorded abstentions.
The minutes note that the treasurer's report was reviewed and that Superintendent Haertling told the board she would begin staff evaluations “as soon as she can.” The minutes do not provide further detail about the timing or scope of those evaluations.
