Altenburg Board approves budget outlook, operational purchases and staff stipends

In a recorded vote, the board approved the budget outlook and amendments unanimously. The meeting also included routine approvals of the agenda and multiple sets of minutes from October, each passed by recorded motions and unanimous votes.
The board reviewed the treasurer’s report and voted to approve the November bills. That motion passed with a 5-0 tally; two board members, Richard Sachs and Jessica Hecht, were recorded as abstaining from the bills vote.
On operational contracts, the board approved snow-removal bid forms to allow staff to solicit contractor bids for winter maintenance. The motion to approve the bid forms passed unanimously.
On compensation, the board approved mid-year stipends for staff carrying out duties beyond their contracted responsibilities. The motion passed 6-0 with one abstention recorded for Richard Sachs.
The board also approved several personnel and safety-related items: adding Rachel Deckerd to the substitute list and approving the district’s payment for safety mats under playground swings and slides. Both motions were recorded as approved by the full board.
Superintendent Debbie Haertling presented reports from Special Education Director Kim Lohmann and on the After School Care Program; the minutes note the reports were provided to the board but do not transcribe specific recommendations or dollar figures.
