The Scobey K-12 Schools board approved multiple personnel actions and granted travel permissions for fall athletics.
Committee member (S3) moved to hire Leif Cornwell as a food-services employee for 2025–26, pending a background check; the motion passed with one recorded dissent. The board also approved adding a slate of applicants to the substitute list (pending background checks) and hired Tasia Hersl as a paraprofessional and Teresa Bockran as a testing proctor, all pending required clearances. The board approved Jeremy Handy as an assistant football coach for the 2025 season, pending background checks.
On athletics, the board authorized junior high and junior varsity football teams to travel to Crosby, Tioga and possibly to Canada for games, following presentation by the superintendent. Members discussed travel distances, availability of opponents, and the district’s challenge finding reasonable nearby opponents; the board emphasized cost and student-safety oversight for longer trips.
The board also gave the school discretion to sell 50/50 tickets at home football and volleyball games for the 2025 season to support activities and fundraising.
These personnel and travel items were approved during the regular meeting and will be implemented by the superintendent and athletic staff, subject to required background checks and additional logistical planning for travel.
