Personnel: Staff summarized personnel actions including two recent resignations, one retirement effective Sept. 18, supplemental positions, FMLA leaves and the recommendation to appoint a transportation-coordinator administrative supplemental position. The board moved and approved the personnel slate.
Conferences and courses: The board approved 15 conferences/workshops for staff and several course proposals at Gateway High School, including a new technology help-desk semester course to give students credit for help-desk work and a revision to allow honors credit for comprehensive music. Staff indicated the help-desk course is a semester credit (semester course), and Troy Jolowitz was acknowledged as the curriculum author for that offering.
Capital and contracts: The board approved the 2026–27 capital project list covering theatre lighting upgrades, sports-complex improvements (steps, concrete pad at tennis seating), ADA restroom work, HVAC replacements and other facility items. Facilities staff noted some projects will be scheduled for summer 2027 to avoid disruption to the school year. The board also approved a new investment service provider (New York Life) and accepted listed sponsorships and advertising placements for school facilities and scoreboard displays.
Bus surveillance policy: Staff presented a draft policy for 30‑day display of a school-bus video/audio surveillance policy; the board discussed notification methods and Skyward sign-offs for parents and accepted the policy for 30‑day public display as required by district procedure.
The meeting concluded with a decision to hold a short executive session on personnel following the public portion of the meeting.
