The board approved an authorization procedure for pre‑service teachers to be the teacher of record under district‑approved procedures. Administration said student teachers serving as the teacher of record would have hours aligned with regular teacher schedules (expected on site roughly 7:50 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.) and would be eligible for one personal day and up to three sick days (24 hours) during the placement; administrators emphasized this does not alter the district’s long‑term substitute pay/benefits policy.
Finally, the board voted to move the district’s teacher‑evaluation framework from Marshall/Danielson to the Marzano model. Supporters said Marzano provides clearer evaluative evidence for teacher practice and that training will be offered so staff can align to the new model.
The board recorded roll‑call approvals for each item and assigned follow‑up tasks including publishing updated graduation guidance and coordinating pre‑service authorizations with partner institutions.
