Daniel Fouquet‑Woodcock spoke against the proposal, raising safety and traffic concerns and saying the building would block mountain views. Mayor Wendell Hildebrand closed the public hearing at 7:22 p.m. after hearing public comment and the planner’s notice concern.
Public commenters also raised separate concerns about a proposed data center in town. Resident Belinda Cline opposed the project on environmental grounds, and Arianna Archer urged the council to impose at least a one‑year moratorium on any data‑center development while impacts are studied. Town Manager Logan Shook later said the data‑center representatives had emailed the town seeking a letter saying they are permitted and staff reiterated that the conditional‑rezoning process is the proper avenue for such questions.
Council members discussed whether to move the May meeting earlier so the property owner could meet a grant application deadline of May 15; multiple motions to change the May meeting date failed because several council members were unavailable. Council announced it will take action on ZMA 26‑1 at the May meeting after adequate notice is provided.
The rezoning item was introduced as ZMA 26‑1 to change the zoning of 107 Main Ave E from Central Business District (CBD) to Conditional District (CD) to permit a multi‑family planned unit development; no final vote or conditions were adopted at the April 27 meeting.
