The Town of Hildebran on April 15 reached consensus to fund several community nonprofits and to appropriate $15,900 for the town’s share of Cruise Ins events in the FY 2026-27 budget.
Finance Officer Fredrick Rankins presented recommended nonprofit appropriations of $6,000 for Burke County Public Library, $2,000 for East Burke Senior Center, $2,000 for REACT (general purposes) and $3,000 for VEDIC, a total of $13,000. Council recorded consensus to include those amounts in the coming fiscal year.
Staff also outlined the town’s anticipated Cruise Ins expenditures: $7,200 for fireworks (May 2027), up to $6,400 for bands (with per-band caps defined), $1,500 for REACT ($300 per Cruise In) and $800 for deputy traffic control at Third Ave SE. Council approved appropriating $15,900 for Cruise Ins in FY 26-27. The minutes do not record individual roll-call votes for these appropriations; items are recorded as council consensus.
