Staff presented an initial events budget of $25,000 that allocated funds for marketing, Royal Park Tales, an East Egg Hunt, a Fall Festival, a Community BBQ, a concert series, a Christmas parade, a tree lighting and community outreach days. Events Coordinator Haven Ward provided the line-item proposal to council. Mayor Wendell Hildebrand and council members discussed overlaps between the proposed concert series and existing Cruise Ins and chose to remove the concert series for the coming year.
Council increased the marketing line item from $500 to $1,000 to help promote the auditorium and asked staff to evaluate whether REACT services should be used for traffic or safety support during the Christmas parade. The minutes record council reached consensus to appropriate the revised $22,000 events budget in the FY 26-27 budget draft.
The decision was recorded as a consensus direction to staff; the minutes do not show a roll-call vote or additional conditions attached to the appropriation. The budget document and implementation details will be incorporated into the forthcoming FY 2026-27 budget adoption process.
