Sarah Snatchabolt of Inspire Placemaking Collective presented updates to the UDO and Comprehensive Plan during the council’s public hearings. Council opened and closed the hearings in succession, with no members of the public recorded as speaking during the hearings. The council then approved Resolution #2024-12, finding the proposed plan and ordinance consistent with town policy, and adopted the ordinance by a unanimous 4-0 vote.
Supporters and staff said the documents update the town’s development regulations to align with North Carolina’s §160D statutory framework and to guide future land use and permitting decisions. Interim Planning Director Dale Holland and Interim Town Manager Tony Sears presented the ordinance and plan for council consideration. The transcript records no substantive amendments at the meeting.
