Board ratifies $1.54 million emergency electrical repairs at Clear Creek High School

Superintendent Dr. Ingle told trustees that near the end of the school year Clear Creek High School experienced a failure of one of seven primary electrical feeders, and testing showed the remaining feeders posed a higher-than-normal risk of failure. Dr. Ingle said he had declared an emergency on June 1 to authorize repairs.
Mr. Miller, who presented the facilities assessment, said the district had been testing feeders since about 2013 after similar failures in the district. "We are recommending that the board of trustees ratify a purchase contract to C and D Electric in the amount of $1,539,545 for those electrical repairs at Clear Creek High School," he said, noting C and D is one of the district’s board‑approved electrical contractors.
Trustees asked about the timeline and steps to limit campus downtime. Mr. Miller said the work is slated to begin the first week of August, that wiring runs will be staged to minimize shutdowns and that the district expects the system to be back up before the start of school. He told the board the repairs will be reported monthly until complete and identified Bonds 2023, savings and interest as the funding source.
Trustee Cheka moved to ratify the contract; President Cottrell called the vote and the motion passed 7–0.
