The Kenly Town Council on Aug. 11 adopted RESOLUTION #2025-07 reconciling the town’s FY 2024–25 tax settlement with Wilson County. Interim Town Manager Tony Sears reported a levy of $72,540.88, credits of $67,241.86, uncollected taxes totaling $5,405.40 and delinquent interest collected of $795.96; the county’s reported collection rate was 92% for the period.
Following the tax report, staff provided routine updates. Sears said the town joined the League of Municipalities’ AIM program (Audit Implementation Management), a step staff attributed to facilitating the audit process and producing nearly $75,000 in savings; an audit contract is ready for council signature.
Police Chief James Ayers presented monthly department statistics: 12 incidents, five accidents, seven criminal summonses and 113 total citations for the month, 73 of which were issued by a rookie officer. Ayers also summarized recent community outreach activities, including a bicycle donation, a July 4th celebration, door‑to‑door engagement and a summer splash event.
