Police Chief James Ayers delivered the department’s activity report during the May 12 meeting, outlining recent enforcement activity and community programs.
The department recorded 14 incidents in the reporting period, including nine accidents, three criminal summonses, nine disturbances, three larcenies, four trespassing incidents and 17 verbal warnings; officers completed 152 business/residence checks plus 27 additional checks. Chief Ayers reported a large drug seizure involving approximately 23 grams of fentanyl, 27 grams of methamphetamine and about seven oxycodone pills; a motor vehicle was recovered and the department said it will pursue follow‑up through the court system.
The police department also described community outreach such as Operation Easter Basket delivering gift baskets to seniors and children, participation in a local elementary school career day, and traffic control during Good Friday worship.
