Kenly’s Town Council voted April 12 to approve Ordinance 2025-04-01, rezoning 102 Hershey Drive from B-3 to B-2 to permit vehicle repairs, including truck and tractor-trailer services.
Interim Town Manager Tony Sears presented the petition and reported unanimous support from the planning board. Council discussion included clarification that the property owner is responsible for the water system connection from the meter box to the main. Councilors also noted that recent ordinance language is intended to prevent unsightly accumulation of unrepairable vehicles at repair facilities.
The rezoning passed on a 4-0 vote after a motion by Council Member Mark Smith and second by Council Member Keith Davis. Town staff will update permitting materials and the town’s water-service requirements for the property as part of the permit and building-review process.
