Council gives Events Coordinator authority on food trucks; allows HHDA tents for Cruise In season

The Town of Hildebran council voted May 18 to give the Events Coordinator discretion to allow food trucks at future Cruise Ins, a decision that passed 4–1. Council Member Mike Smith moved the measure; Council Members Smith, Mike Stroupe, Terry Weaver and Jody York voted in favor, and Council Member Ben Honeycutt opposed.
Bill Jones, who identified himself as representing HHDA, asked Council to allow HHDA to erect tents and keep them up for the entire Cruise In season; council agreed and staff noted HHDA could be listed on redesigned event flyers. Council also asked for an alternate bid for a proposed dance area at Royal Park when rebidding the pavilion work.
Town Manager Logan Shook and Events Coordinator Haven Ward described logistics for time capsule display and tent placement. The council's vote gives the Events Coordinator operational authority to approve food trucks going forward, subject to any further council direction.
The motion clarified event‑management authority but did not change any ordinance; it resulted from concern that food trucks could affect HHDA fundraising.
