Council voted unanimously to contract Lowdermilk Church & Co., LLP to audit town accounts for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, in an agreement not to exceed $16,300 (motion by Council Member Jody York).
Council also approved resolutions leasing rooms, gym space, concession and office space, and parking to local organizations for one year or less. Approved lessees include Carolina Police K9 LLC, East Burke Christian Ministries, Family Support Network/HOPE, Hildebran‑Icard Community Development Council, Hildebran‑Icard Little League, His Words His Ways Fellowship, The Enola Group and Walkin’ Roll Activities League; copies of the resolutions were incorporated into the meeting record.
To support the May 23 Cruise In, the council approved an NCDOT road‑closure ordinance. Separately, Hildebran‑Icard Little League’s application to temporarily close First Street SW for FY 26‑27 baseball practices and games was approved without discussion.
All motions on these items passed unanimously.
