Albany council adopts 2026–27 budget, approves salaries ordinance and other routine items

The Town of Albany Council unanimously adopted the town’s 2026–27 budget and approved several routine items during a 30-minute regular meeting on June 8, 2026 at Albany Town Hall.
The council approved the minutes from the May 2026 meeting after Councilman Don Onofry moved to approve the minutes and Councilman Jerry Glascock seconded. "Motion to approve minutes from May 2026 meeting," the record shows; the vote was recorded as K. Stewart, J. Glascock, G. Stilley, D. Onofry and J. Thomas voting yes, with no nays.
Councilwoman Kim Stewart moved to approve the May 2026 financial statements; Councilman Jerry Glascock seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
The council then adopted a salaries amended ordinance covering pay for the mayor, council, chief of police, town clerk and water superintendent. Councilman Gerald Stilley moved to adopt the ordinance and Councilman Jerry Glascock seconded; the motion passed with all members present voting yes.
Councilman Jerry Glascock moved to adopt the amended 2025–2026 budget; Councilwoman Kim Stewart seconded. The council approved the amendment unanimously. Later in the meeting Councilman Gerald Stilley moved, and Councilman Don Onofry seconded, to adopt the 2026–2027 budget; that motion also passed unanimously.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn moved by Councilman Gerald Stilley and seconded by Councilman Jerry Glascock. The session was adjourned at 6:30 p.m. The minutes were signed by Town Clerk Kimberlee "Joey" Cooper and Mayor Eileen Bates-McCarroll.
