The Fairhope City Council approved a set of procurement and administrative items at the meeting, including engineering agreements, equipment purchases and business licensing.
Wastewater engineering and on-call services: Council approved a resolution authorizing Mayor Sherry Sullivan to execute a contract with Krebs Engineering for supplemental aeration engineering at the wastewater treatment plant with engineering fees not to exceed $75,000. Council separately approved mayoral authorization to negotiate a not-to-exceed fee for Krebs as an on-call professional engineering provider for the water/wastewater department; staff explained the city currently contracts with Dewberry and uses Krebs frequently for system familiarity.
Water-main materials and equipment: The council awarded material procurement for the Dairy Road water main to Empire Pipe & Supply for a not-to-exceed materials cost of $42,593.58. Members approved a Caterpillar stump grinder purchase on a cooperative contract; after a $4,000 trade-in the net cost to the city will not exceed $4,619 plus shipping. A three-year elevator maintenance agreement on a cooperative contract was approved at an annual cost of $8,100, and managed print services using an Equalis Group contract with Xerox Business Solutions was approved at $1,422.83 per month (about $17,073.96 per year).
Licensing and other votes: The council approved an application for a specialty retail hemp seller (Greer family/Cash Saver No. 18) over one recorded nay, and approved restaurant and liquor licenses for Volanta LLC and The Decoy Bar & Grill. Council also rejected all bids for annual fire-extinguisher inspection services and authorized a rebid under the Code of Alabama. Finally, the council adopted a resolution fixing the assessment amount as a lien for a demolition at 7 Woods Avenue (the demolition had already been completed).
