Sarah Reynolds outlined capital priorities and said the warrant was not finalized. She flagged multiple bridge projects that will be discussed on the Town Meeting floor and noted a need for easement funding. Cemetery maintenance quotes were presented for regular summer mowing. Reynolds identified a highway truck replacement priced at $168,500 with an optional $6,000 extended warranty; the replacement would include a stainless-steel body and a six-year extended warranty. She also noted Assess Pro 5 as the assessors’ software choice and that Town Hall bathroom flooring requires repair.
Committee members said Chapter 90 funding is "almost double" and could be held for several years to complete a road project or to buy equipment. The committee said it will wait to vote on capital articles until the free cash number is available.
Wilder Sparks reported presenting a detailed explanation from Bill Lataille about an asserted $109,000 overcharge by Mohawk to Charlemont and said John Gould was receptive; Wilder said he will forward the request to Paul Mark and team and suggested that a clean ask and letters of support from other towns could help secure reimbursement or an earmark.
The board also discussed the possible tax impact of pending proposals: if the school budget is approved, members estimated an average $142 increase on a $300,000 assessed value, and noted a separate police proposal under review could add an additional ~$667 to that figure. The Finance Committee will return to police and schools on May 13.
