Ladysmith council approves $800 timber-management plan for city parcels near landfill and wastewater plant

The Common Council of the City of Ladysmith on Feb. 9 voted 6-0 to authorize $800 to hire a professional forester to develop timber-management plans for two city-owned parcels: roughly 40 acres near the old landfill and about 160 acres adjacent to the wastewater treatment facility.

Councilmember Al Christianson introduced the topic and gave the acreage figures before the council considered the funding request. Councilmember Randy Lovely moved to authorize the $800 expenditure, Nathan Johnson seconded, and the motion was approved by roll call vote. The minutes record six affirmative votes and no opposing votes (Delasky, Johnson, Christianson, Kenyon, Lovely, Hoover all voted yes).

The council’s action funds development of management plans that the city can use to determine whether and how to proceed with timber sales or management on those parcels.
