New Auburn board votes to post special-education director and high-school principal posts, schedules principal interviews

The School District of New Auburn School Board approved multiple administrative job postings and scheduled interviews for its elementary–middle principal during a special meeting on April 7, 2025.
President Louise Cody called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. in the high school library and the board unanimously approved the agenda. The board then voted to post for a full-time special-education director and to open both full- and part-time positions to be filled based on candidate responses; the board also approved contracting with the Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) to assist with the search process (motion by Michelle Rayburn; second by Tim Trowbridge; vote 4–0).
Why it matters: leadership hires for special education and the high school can affect staffing, program continuity, and athletic administration. With an external search partner and multiple postings, the district is broadening its candidate pool ahead of the upcoming school year.
The board moved into closed session at 5:13 p.m. under Wis. Stat. § 19.85(1)(c) to review employment data for candidates for the PreK–8 principal position. In closed session, the board approved posting a full-time high-school principal/athletic director position (motion by President Louise Cody; second by Tim Trowbridge; vote 4–0).
The board reconvened to open session at 6:04 p.m. and announced three candidates had been chosen for interviews for the PreK–8 principal vacancy; the board voted to schedule interviews of those three candidates (motion by Louise Cody; second by Michelle Rayburn; vote 4–0). The board also, in open session, approved posting the full-time high-school principal/athletic director position (motion by Louise Cody; second by Nick Jones; vote 4–0). The meeting adjourned at 6:06 p.m. following a motion by Louise Cody and second by Michelle Rayburn (vote 4–0).
