The Town Board of Koshkonong voted Aug. 27 to offer Lucas Buckingham the position of Public Works Supervisor and to advertise a Public Works Crewmember opening.
Supervisor Matt Hill moved to offer Lucas Buckingham the Public Works Supervisor position at $30 per hour, effective Aug. 17, 2025, with a four-month probationary period and a written job description to follow; during the probationary period the hire may default to the Crew Leader position at $27 per hour. Supervisor Erik Hoffman seconded the motion; the motion carried on a unanimous voice vote.
The board also approved advertising for a Public Works Crewmember position with a pay range of $24 to $27 per hour depending on experience. Supervisor George Jaeckel moved the advertisement that specifies a commercial driver’s license (CDL) is required, equipment proficiency is preferred, on-call availability is required, town residency is preferred or candidates must be within a 30-minute emergency response time, and a benefits package will be offered; Supervisor Erik Hoffman seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Earlier in the meeting the board convened in closed session at 6:00 p.m. under section 19.85(1)(c) of the Wisconsin State Statutes for the purpose of employee reviews, following a motion by Supervisor George Jaeckel and a second by Supervisor Erik Hoffman. A roll-call vote on that motion recorded affirmative votes from Supervisors George Jaeckel, Jim Brandenburg, Erik Hoffman, Matt Hill and Chairperson Kim Cheney (5–0). The board returned to open session at 7:40 p.m., at which time it took the hiring and advertising actions.
Clerk Caitlin Kincannon verified the proper public postings for the meeting at the start of the session; the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. The board adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
The motions recorded in the minutes provide the terms summarized above; the written job description for the supervisor position was noted as forthcoming.
