Mendon board approves routine financial reports, appoints Adam Toye to ZBA and continues stormwater coalition membership

At its July meeting the Mendon Town Board approved a series of routine financial and administrative actions, appointed a zoning board member and continued the town's participation in a regional stormwater coalition.
The board acknowledged the town supervisormonthly report for May 2026 and the town clerkmonthly report showing receipts and disbursements of $70,331.28. Motions to approve voucher abstracts were moved and approved by voice vote, including a general abstract of $13,517.55, general abstract B of $73,804.33, a highway abstract of $37,437.28 and library abstracts totaling $15,949.47 ($1,443.04 and $14,506.43 across two abstracts).
The board appointed Adam Toye to the town zoning board of appeals to fill a vacancy for the remainder of the term; members said resumes and recommendation letters were reviewed before the unanimous voice vote.
The board voted to create 17 town‑owned email addresses for planning and advisory board members at an estimated $8.40 per user per month (about $1,713.60 annually) to improve records retention and streamline responses to information requests.
On intermunicipal cooperation, the board approved continued membership in the Monroe County Stormwater Coalition and accepted the intermunicipal agreement with an annual membership fee of $6,273.30. The board also moved $6,273.30 from the special items contingent fund (B1990.4) to the planning projects contractual account (B8023.4) to cover the fee; that transfer and the coalition membership were approved by voice vote.
The board also approved increasing the monthly legal expense budget to cover May's legal bill of $12,822.59; members said the town has had several ongoing legal matters that contributed to the higher bill.
The supervisor said staff will distribute follow‑up materials and that the village public hearing on an urgent care proposal is scheduled for Aug. 3; the board will review any related driveway access or permit items as they are submitted.
