Town clerk: vote-by-mail cards are out; Select Board signs September primary warrant

Town Clerk Linda Hathaway opened public comment by telling residents the Secretary’s elections division has started mailing vote-by-mail cards and that primary ballots are expected by the first or second week in August. She urged unenrolled (independent) voters to mark which party ballot they want to receive for the primary (“you have to tell us whether you want a Democrat or Republican because if you don't, you're not gonna get a ballot in the primary”), and she encouraged residents to return ballots early — at least a week before the primary — or drop them in the town’s ballot drop box.
Hathaway gave an in-person early voting schedule: she said, “Starting, Saturday, August 22 from 9 to 5, there's in person, voting...and then on Monday and Wednesday of the following week, we're 08:30 to 4. And then Tuesday and Thursday of that week, we will be 08:30 to 7. That's August 22 through August 28.” She also noted staff will post ballot layouts on the town website once the ballots arrive so voters can preview the ballot.
Later in the meeting, the board moved to accept and sign the warrant for the September primary as presented by the town clerk; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The Select Board did not change election procedures at the meeting; the actions recorded were informational (clerk’s notice) and the formal signing of the election warrant.
