The North Cape School District Board of Education on April 22 directed district leadership to compile updated consumer-price-index and regional pay data as trustees prepare for 2024–25 compensation decisions.
Superintendent Dr. Lehnen and district staff member Ms. Hansen were instructed to gather current CPI figures and salary comparisons from surrounding districts. Trustee Tom Halter will meet with John and Tina (district staff) to review recommendations before the board’s May meeting.
Board members noted last year’s high CPI (above 8 percent) and said the current rate is roughly 4.12 percent, information trustees want to factor into any pay adjustments. The discussion did not include a formal proposal or dollar amounts; the board framed the item as fact‑finding and direction to staff.
Dr. Lehnen also reported on operational matters that could affect budgeting: a June 6 end‑of‑year cookout and Field Day, and uncertainty about who will run summer school this year. The district typically serves about 35–40 students in summer school; if in‑district staff do not lead the program, the district may share program information with Waterford Graded.
The board did not take a final vote on compensation at the April meeting; trustees set steps for staff to return with updated data and recommendations at the next meeting.
