North Cape superintendent reports on Centivo meeting as districts weigh joint insurance purchasing

Superintendent Dr. Lehnen told the board the district met with Centivo, a Minnesota-based health plan intermediary, on Feb. 13 to evaluate potential insurance options. Feeder districts are coordinating to determine whether joint purchasing could produce better rates for member districts.
Dr. Lehnen said he would meet with board member Tom Halter to continue evaluating the potential advantages of a group approach; the board did not take a formal vote or adopt a contract at this meeting. The report was informational, and no changes to insurance coverage or vendors were authorized at the Feb. 19 meeting.
The superintendent's report also reviewed other upcoming events and training: a Spaghetti Dinner/Auction fundraiser on April 21 (with Scott Gunderson as live auction facilitator), Grandparents Day on May 3, a May 2 recognition ceremony at UWWhitewater for students published in the Southern Lakes anthology, and CPR/AED/Stop the Bleed staff certification sessions on March 22 and April 1.
Board members did not request immediate action and asked administration to continue evaluation of potential insurance options with feeder districts.
