North Cape staff share classroom successes; superintendent outlines grant-funded digital mapping for first responders

Staff members used the board's March 18 meeting to share classroom highlights and district successes, and the superintendent reported on a safety-focused grant project.

Mrs. Serak described a cheerleading clinic run in partnership with Rockstar Athletics and said a spaghetti fundraiser helped offset clinic costs. Mrs. Peter reported that the district’s 4K classes completed a kindness unit, produced kindness rainbow projects for staff and — for the first time — the entire 4K cohort participated in 'Lunch with Lehnen.' She said the class will move next to a literacy unit focused on community helpers.

Other classroom updates included kindergarten science work on pushing and pulling, first grade beginning opinion writing, third grade starting a weather unit leading to a weather-day field trip, and fifth grade focusing on argumentative writing and an essay contest with the Wisconsin Farm Bureau. Music teachers reported progress on choir and recorder work ahead of a concert.

Under Superintendent Dr. Lehnen’s report, Ms. Witzeling obtained a grant to pay for digital mapping of the building; mapping will occur during spring break and will produce a digital footprint to be shared with local first responders. Meeting notes state the district has received half of the grant funds to begin the project.

The board received the reports with positive remarks but did not take additional formal action on the Good News items.
