Council rezones two Locust Street parcels to Central Mixed Use

Hendersonville city council on Nov. 6 adopted an ordinance amending the official zoning map to change two parcels along Locust Street from I-1 (Industrial) to CMU (Central Mixed Use).
City planning staff (S9) said the rezoning is part of a broader small-area rezoning the council began last month; three additional property owners consented to be included but only two PINs were ready for consideration at this meeting. "The proposed zoning of the CMU aligns with the Gen h 20 45 comprehensive future land use and conservation map," a staff representative said during the hearing, and the council found the petition to be consistent with the city comprehensive plan and the public interest.
Council member (S2) moved to adopt the ordinance changing PINs ending in 4214 and 2387 from I-1 to CMU. Mayor Volk (S1) called the vote and the motion carried.
Staff said one remaining parcel that was not included will return to the council when consents are complete.
