Hendersonville Council introduces $10 million transportation bond, sets Dec. 4 hearing

Hendersonville city council on Nov. 6 voted to introduce a $10,000,000 general-obligation transportation bond and set a public hearing for Dec. 4 to gather public comment before finalizing the measure.
City counsel (S10) told the council the bond order and accompanying resolution would allow the city to seek approval from the Local Government Commission and to advertise required disclosures. "The statement of disclosure is currently drafted to allow us to work on streets, curbs, sidewalk, anything transportation related, including some pedestrian safety," the counsel said. The staff presentation included a project budget framework that identified approximate buckets for spending, including about $8.5 million for streets and about $3.5 million for ADA accessibility, with remaining funds for curb and gutter and related work.
Council member (S8) moved to adopt the introduction of the bond order and to direct publication of the notice of the Dec. 4 public hearing; Mayor Volk (S1) called the vote and the motion carried.
The hearing will give residents a chance to review the bond disclosures and proposed project lists before the council takes a final vote. Staff said further public education materials and detailed project lists will be posted on the city's website in advance of the hearing.
