Cole County Commission approves multiple contracts, 911 assessment and ADA purchases

The Cole County Commission on July 7 approved a series of contracts and purchases intended to support county health services, emergency communications and public works.
Commissioner Harry Otto moved to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and the Cole County Health Department; Commissioner Jeff Hoelscher seconded and the motion passed with Presiding Commissioner Sam Bushman voting yes. Commissioner Otto later moved to approve and sign a Year 2 service contract with Hamilton Medical for $13,156.00; Commissioner Hoelscher seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The commission also approved renewal of BioMedical service for the infusion pump and IV service for $3,520.00.
Commissioner Jeff Hoelscher moved to approve a professional services contract with Tusa for a 911 Strategic Assessment Study; Commissioner Harry Otto seconded and the commission voted to approve the contract. The board also voted to sign a contract with Verslues Construction Co. for the Public Works shop expansion. In procedural business, the commission approved Accounts Payable pending review on a unanimous vote.
On procurement tied to accessibility, Melissa Johnson provided an update on ADA compliance and document remediation, reminding staff that items posted to social media or the county website must be remediated before posting. Health Director Kristi Campbell led a discussion about ADA‑compatible equipment for the Health Department, after which the commission approved the required ADA equipment purchase totaling $1,123.50 and separately approved purchase of a scale for $3,550.00. Both motions passed unanimously.
All motions and contracts recorded in the meeting passed by recorded votes of Commissioner Bushman (Yes), Commissioner Hoelscher (Yes) and Commissioner Otto (Yes). The commission later moved to stand in recess until 4:30 p.m.
