Chief Mike Rydberg of the Onancock Volunteer Fire Department addressed Onley council to present equipment needs and a price list for items his department uses.
Rydberg said the Town of Onancock provides $25,000 a year to the department and that figure includes a $15,000 ATL grant. He told council he does not believe the department receives funding from the Tasley Fire Department and said the department does not receive funds from the Town of Accomac despite providing service there. A copy of the price list was offered to be attached to the minutes and made available on request.
Mayor Ned Finney and Council members asked follow-up questions about funding sources. The presentation was informational; there was no council action recorded at the meeting to change funding levels.
Council members and staff received the information and asked that the department supply any follow-up documentation the town may request as the budget process continues.
