Committee asks staff to clarify Quercus proposal for Raintree prairie conversion after resident raises concerns; Raintree pond pipe needs replacement

The Token Creek Conservancy Committee revisited a Quercus quote for converting grass at the Raintree site to meadow or prairie on Oct. 1 and directed staff to supply clearer scope documentation before formal approval.
Resident Jean Schneider told the committee she thought the quoted price appeared low to cover the entire site and relayed concerns from acquaintances about work performed by inexperienced staff at other projects. Committee members and staff said they have not experienced problems with Quercus's work to date but agreed the proposal should be refined.
The committee instructed staff to update the Raintree proposal to include a map that defines the exact area proposed for conversion and to confirm whether the planting will be maintained as short grass or allowed to grow long. Those clarifications are intended to ensure members—and the public—understand the scope and maintenance implications before the committee considers an approval.
Separately, Parks and Conservancy Manager Chad Courtier reported that staff had unclogged a drainpipe at the Raintree ponds but that the pipe is failing and will need replacement; Courtier said the Village should have most of the supplies on hand to complete the repair.
Committee discussion of landscape architect proposals for Culver Springs will be deferred to the Dec. 3, 2024 meeting to allow members additional time for review.
