Windsor board approves extension for Storage Shop USA project after neighbor complaints

The Windsor Village Board voted 4-1 on April 3 to extend site-plan and rezoning approvals for Storage Shop USA’s Phase 3, moving the permit pull date from April 15 to July 15, 2025. Trustee Bruce Stravinski moved the extension and Trustee Ed Wall seconded; President Bob Wipperfurth voted against the motion.
Storage Shop USA representatives Greg Thompson and Tim LeBrun told the board that Phase 3 was approved in 2024 and that stormwater improvements for Phases 1 and 2 must be completed before Phase 3 proceeds. They said they are coordinating with Dane County and aim to finish stormwater facilities by May 20, 2025. Neighbor Pat Gaffney (6580 Linden Circle) and Dick Laufenberg (6578 Linden Circle) told the board they have experienced backyard flooding, saw persistent piles of dirt and gravel behind their yards, and want the site matted and seeded so their yards are usable.
Tim LeBrun said the project’s pace slowed during the pandemic and by weather conditions, and that phases have been staged about every 18–24 months while working with small contractors. The board approved the extension while noting the neighbors’ concerns and the outstanding stormwater work.
