At its July 13 meeting the Manhasset Union Free School District Board of Education accepted several donations, approved multiple professional contracts and financial authorizations, and set the district's tax levy for 2026–27.
The board accepted an $81,250 donation from the Manhasset Booster Club that included contributions from several families and community supporters. It also authorized acceptance of a $150,000 gift from CASA to support the organization’s program work with the district and a donor contribution of approximately $7,000–$9,000 from PAL baseball and softball to fund installation of a storage shed near the secondary school softball field. The board approved acceptance of these gifts by voice vote.
Dr. Christopher J. Pelletieri described CASA’s donation as a transition in how the organization supports programming. "Casa felt that it was time for them to take a step back, and we would take a step forward," Dr. Pelletieri said, and he noted the district will carry forward CASA’s speaker series and substance-abuse programming.
The board approved 2026–27 appointments of professional service providers, including Fraser Feldman LLP as general counsel, Capital Market Advisors for tax and bond counsel, Serenian Associates LLP as internal auditors, RS Abrams & Co., LLP as external auditors, Denise Longumbardi as external claims auditor, and CBIZ Valuation Group for fixed asset/property insurance services. The board also authorized the president to execute related agreements.
On financial authorizations, the board designated banking depositories and maximum deposit levels (JPMorgan Chase $50,000,000; NYCLASS $25,000,000; Flagstar $5,000,000; Capital One $100,000). It passed a resolution to renew and amend the district’s 403(b) plan and established petty cash and signatory rules for accounts payable. Staff noted that the tax levy submitted for 2026–27 reflects a 3.44% increase and that the levy includes the library’s submitted amount.
The board approved a consent agenda that included transfers of funds (including a transfer of up to $2,000,000 to a 2018 capital reserve fund), approval to access technology equipment, and the claims report for the period ending June 2026.
The board scheduled a regular meeting on Sept. 24 to review district priorities and goals. The organization meeting then adjourned and the board proceeded to its regular session.
