Union City council approves MMO, subdivision, meeting-date change and routine items

At its Aug. 13 meeting, the Union City Borough Council approved several routine administrative and land-use items including pension obligations, a subdivision, a meeting schedule change and public-works assistance to the volunteer fire department.
Borough Manager Cindy Wells presented the 2025 Minimum Municipal Obligation: $48,029 required for the non-uniform pension plan and $0 required for the police pension. Councilor Matt Joyce moved to approve the MMO for 2024 non-uniform and police pensions; the motion passed unanimously.
The council approved a subdivision request to combine a portion of 92 West High Street with 88 and 90 West High Street; the survey maps were approved by Erie County Planning and council signed the approval.
Council agreed to change meeting dates for September 2024 through April 2025 to the first and third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. (the next meeting is Aug. 27, and because of Labor Day the following meeting is Sept. 16, 2024). The Union City Volunteer Fire Department requested borough help to demolish a shed at 10 Market St.; Public Works will assist without use of the backhoe.
The meeting adjourned at 7:06 p.m.; an executive session followed from 7:06–7:52 p.m. to discuss personnel and contract items with no action taken.
