Hinsdale Select Board approves manifest, abatements, appointments, COLA increases and a $75 certified-mail cap

The Hinsdale Select Board approved several routine financial and personnel items at its June 29 meeting.
Board Member Mike Carrier moved to approve the manifest in the amount of $921,497.94 for June 22 and June 29, 2026, and to accept the public and nonpublic minutes of June 15, 2026; the motion passed unanimously.
The board processed a sewer abatement for 11 Chesterfield Road ($2,774.86) via signature based on the June 15 approval. A separate abatement related to a communications tower removed in 2023 (CTI Towers / 40-1 Cable) was approved in the amount of $2,229.61 plus interest; staff said the parcel had returned to the tax roll due to a software error.
The board also approved the oath and appointment of Doreen Strouse to the Conservation Committee and accepted the Town Administrator’s request to sign amended MOU paperwork for the Hinsdale Police Department and the State Police after an edit by the State Police. Board Member Jessica Green moved to approve all COLA and merit increases as presented; that motion passed unanimously.
On a financial-administration question, Board Member Jessica Green asked whether the town should send delinquent tax bills by certified mail for small amounts. The board adopted a $75 cap so the town will not send delinquent notices by certified mail when the delinquency is under $75; the Water Department already follows the $75 threshold.
Motions recorded as passing unanimously included the manifest approval, abatements, appointments, COLA/merit approvals, and the certified-mail cap. The board adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
