The Parksley Town Council was told on Feb. 10 that the town is under contract for a downtown branding grant and that a kickoff event, including an architect and an artist, will take place March 2.
Councilman Dan Matthews said the project team will hold a branding workshop at the Club Car at 5:30 p.m. and meet business owners and other stakeholders for one-on-one sessions. He said an online survey is available and the team will gather public input during the meetings.
Matthews said the architect will produce initial design concepts for facades and branding by the end of the kickoff week, and that exterior facade work would not begin until after a review by the Virginia Department of Historic Resources. He said the grant timeline allows 24 months to complete the work.
The council encouraged business and community participation in the upcoming meetings and in the design process.
