County elections official seeks input as Heritage Park is proposed for removal as a vote center

Austin Robinstein, who identified himself as a Republican member of the Kosciusko County election board, told the Etna Green council the county is considering eliminating three vote centers because of low foot traffic at some sites and asked the public for feedback.
Robinstein said the county issued a press release earlier in the month and invited anyone with an opinion to contact the county clerk, Melissa Boggs, or to attend the county meeting on Aug. 24 at 11:00 a.m. at the county clerk’s office. He said the county would consider letters, emails, and in-person comments at that meeting.
Council members responded that they were opposed to removing Heritage Park as a vote center, with several members and the chair noting the site’s long-standing role and convenience for local voters. Chair said he has voted at Heritage Park since age 18 and encouraged county officials to hear local sentiment before making a final decision.
No formal council resolution on the matter was recorded; the exchange was a solicitation for public input by the county elections board representative and an oral expression of local opposition by council members.
