Dream Big Union Bridge reschedules Duck Derby for July 12 and reports strong turnout at first farmers market

The group's signature fundraiser, the Duck Derby, was postponed because of wet grounds; organizers used the weekend to plant flower boxes along Main Street and rescheduled the Duck Derby for July 12, with bands, vendors, food trucks and a 70-foot inflatable obstacle course planned.
Thompson said the group held its first farmers market that weekend and estimated attendance between 100 and 150 people; volunteers also arranged food vouchers to be distributed through the food pantry. She thanked the Union Bridge Fire Company and volunteers for support and said the response had been overwhelmingly positive despite a small number of negative comments on social media.
"We served approximately a 150 snow cones," Laura told the council during an earlier committee report; Thompson noted the farmers market drew well over 100 people and that the community response was positive.
