Sheridan council approves MLCT contract for municipal finance training

The Town of Sheridan council voted to authorize Mayor Robert Stump to enter into a contract with MLCT to provide municipal financial-services training for the remainder of the fiscal year. Council member Diane Kaatz moved to approve the contract; Jan Bowey seconded, and the motion carried with three ayes.

Mayor Robert Stump described the offering as training “for municipal financial services at $65.00 per hour, remotely or in person,” and said the agreement would cover the town for roughly seven months if services are needed before the end of the fiscal year. Council members discussed the specific wording of the agreement before agreeing to move forward.

Mayor-elect Brandy Tudor, who attended the session, said she supported any training that would benefit the town and asked whether the budget would allow the expense. Council members discussed transition logistics for Tudor and raised office-security concerns after referencing a history of misuse of office cameras; they said stronger safeguards would be needed if cameras are to be used in the future. Diane Kaatz also noted that the council needs to renew its oaths before the new year or at the next meeting and requested that Tudor administer the swearing-in.
