Stephens City Council on June 2 approved the fiscal year 2020–2021 budget and appropriations ordinance following first and second readings. The Clerk read the ordinance title by title only and council members voted to adopt. The roll call for both readings recorded four ayes (Councilman Bowers; Councilman Linden A. Fravel Jr.; Councilman Joseph Hollis; Councilwoman Regina Swygert-Smith) and two absences (Councilman Jason Nauman; Councilor Tina Stevens).
Town Treasurer Steve Rickards had reported earlier in the meeting that May had been a strong month financially and called the fiscal year the best on record. The minutes note that the town’s revenue and expenditure tables were attached to the reports presented to council.
The ordinance was adopted as read; the meeting minutes do not print the full line-by-line budget document or appropriation amounts beyond the revenue/expenditure summary in the financial exhibits attached to the minutes.
