The Monroe Common Council voted Dec. 16 to approve a Plan Commission recommendation authorizing a certified survey map (CSM) for property owned by Dan Schindler at addresses on 15th and 16th Street. Schindler told the council he is acquiring the adjacent lot and will shift his south property line roughly 33 feet to enlarge his backyard on 15th Street; the 16th Street lot will retain sufficient frontage and setbacks for a detached carport.
A presenter summarized the CSM and noted required minimum frontage and landscape-area provisions for the remaining 16th Street parcel. Dan Schindler responded to clarifying questions from council members, explaining the change is intended to add backyard space and not to construct a new building beyond a carport.
The council moved and seconded acceptance of the Plan Commission's recommendation and carried the measure by roll call vote.
