Clifton council approves zoning board and IDA appointments, extends Belle Jar lease and retains mowing contract

The Clifton Town Council on Feb. 6 approved a slate of appointments, contract actions and community requests during routine business.
Mayor Bill Hollaway moved to recommend approval of members to the Board of Zoning Appeals: Marilyn Stoney (term 2/6/18–7/1/20), John Brantley Baber (3/1/16–3/1/21), William J. Ridenour (3/4/17–3/4/22), Jeffrey E. Stein (3/4/18–3/4/23) and Steven Effros (chair; term 7/1/14–7/1/19). The motion was seconded and approved by poll vote, 6-0.
The Council also approved appointments to the Industrial Development Authority, appointing William J. Ridenour and Jeffrey E. Stein to terms through March 4, 2022; that motion passed by poll vote, 6-0.
On contracts and local business matters, Councilmember Nickum moved to approve the town mowing contract for the coming season at the current rate; the motion passed on a roll-call vote (Nickum: Aye; McDonald: Aye; Milne: Aye; Hollaway: Aye; Heilmann: Aye; Poe: Aye). The Council granted a six-month extension to Belle Jar Design's month-to-month lease at the current rate and authorized Mayor Hollaway to sign the extension; that motion also passed by roll-call (6 ayes).
The Council approved several community items by unanimous vote, allowing Boy Scout Troop 1104 to use the Community Hall free of charge for an annual lock-in and authorizing the Clifton Lions to place a banner on Main Street for their Pancake Breakfast (April 22–29) provided it is removed within a week of the event.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn at 9:09 PM that was approved by poll vote, 6-0.
