Winnebago County board adopts 2026 drainage levies after treasurer summarizes collections

Committee member (Speaker 2) told the board the county is “pretty close to about $500,000 the last couple of years,” noting most outstanding amounts are for the current fiscal year rather than older debts. The speaker said only one trustee district requested a levy without outstanding debt and described several small-amount bills that may prompt individual owner contacts.
The levies motion was presented as part of the meeting’s drainage segment. After discussion about the condition of assets and the effect on landowners, a motion to approve the 2026 drainage levies was made, seconded and carried by voice vote.
