Council appoints Michael Anton to BZA, reappoints committees and assigns liaisons

At the July 3 meeting the Clifton Town Council unanimously recommended Michael Anton to assume the remainder of Steve Effros’s term on the Board of Zoning Appeals; the motion was moved by Mayor Bill Hollaway, seconded by Councilmember Chase Hinderstein and approved by poll vote, 6-0. It was also announced that current BZA member Brant Baber agreed to serve as chair of the Board.
The council approved a slate of committee appointments and term renewals, including reappointments to the Architectural Review Board, Planning Commission members Susan Yantis, Michelle Stein and Mac Arnold for two-year terms, and appointment of Councilmember Melissa Milne as the Town Council representative on the Planning Commission and liaison to the Virginia Municipal League and the Cigarette Tax Board. Council also renewed terms for ad-hoc committees (Special Projects, Noise, Communication, Trails, Haunted Trails, Homes Tour, Parks, Arts, Historic Preservation, Traffic, Parking, Sunshine) and appointed representatives for the Committee on the Environment, Business Coalition and Town Parks Manager Committee.
Councilmember Darrell Poe moved to appoint Councilmember Steve Effros as Vice Mayor; the motion carried by poll vote 5-0-1 (Vice Mayor Effros abstained). The roster of committee roles and liaison assignments appears in the meeting packet and was approved by the council.
