The Clifton Town Council on Jan. 2 accepted the treasurer's financial report for the period ending Dec. 31, 2017, which showed total checking and savings of $1,178,904.98. Councilmember Wayne Nickum moved to approve the report; Councilmember Regan McDonald seconded and the motion passed by a 6-0 poll vote.
Town Treasurer Marilyn Barton had emailed a packet of supporting documents before the meeting that outlined key items: $49,790.53 in gross revenues from the 2017 Haunted Trail event and $9,275.93 in expenses, leaving a reported net of $40,514.60; committee fundraising and Homes Tour receipts; and receipts from Fairfax County for BPOL and motor vehicle fees that contributed to year-to-date tax and permit revenues. Barton also flagged CIF activity tied to VDOT Streetscape Phase 2, reporting $4,886.43 received in December as the first two draw requests and related payments to J2 Engineering totaling $11,483.15 for the project to date.
The financial packet included detailed profit-and-loss tables and event reports. The Treasurer noted operational highlights such as ongoing setup of ACH payroll with United Bank and the plan to publish updated BPOL application forms for 2018.
The council took no separate action on line items beyond adopting the report. The council's approval means the financial statements will be part of the meeting record as presented.
