Clifton council sets streetscape meeting, adopts Pollinator Week and approves staff bonuses

At its May 8 meeting the Clifton Town Council scheduled a public information meeting for Streetscape Phase II, approved a resolution designating June 18–24 as Pollinator Week, and authorized $1,000 bonuses for the town treasurer and clerk. The council also accepted financial reports and planning and ARB recommendations.
The Clifton Town Council met on May 8, 2018, at the Clifton Town Meeting Hall. Councilmember Wayne Nickum presided with Councilmembers Regan McDonald, Melissa Milne and Darrell Poe present; Mayor Bill Hollaway and Vice Mayor Jennifer Heilmann were absent.
Councilmembers approved routine business including minutes and the Treasurer’s report. The council voted to set a Public Information Meeting on Streetscape Phase II to begin at 7:00 p.m. (with 30 minutes for exhibit review followed by presentation and Q&A) and to add approval of the proposed FY2019 budget to the next month’s agenda.
On new business the council unanimously adopted a resolution designating June 18–24, 2018 as Pollinator Week after a motion by Councilmember Regan McDonald and second by Councilmember Melissa Milne. The council also authorized a $1,000 bonus each for Town Treasurer Marilyn Barton and Town Clerk Amanda Christman; the motion was made by Councilmember Wayne Nickum, seconded by Councilmember Milne and passed by roll call (Nickum, McDonald, Milne, Poe: Aye).
The council accepted reports from advisory bodies. It approved the Planning Commission’s recommendations as set out in its April 24 report. The Architectural Review Board requested that the town send a letter to owners (the Bennetts) about an unpermitted structure and offered to provide guidance on retrofitting; Councilmember Darrell Poe was authorized to speak with the Bennetts and report back at the next meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 8:12 p.m.
